Audiences will once again be reuinting with the beloved cast of Toy Story with the announcement of the upcoming fifth instalment of the animated feature film.
The announcement was made during Disney's Q1 earnings call for the 2022 year end by CEO Bob Iger. Not only this, but two further sequels were comfirmed:
"I'm so pleased to announce that we have sequels in the works from our animation studios to some of our most popular franchises -- Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia,"
Previous movies in the Toy Story franchises have performed incredibly both at the box office and by critics too. Toy Story 4 earned a staggering $1.07 billion globally and went on to be nominated for two Academy Awards in 2020 for Best Original Song “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away” by Randy Newman and won the Best Animated Feature.
Of course, people will be wondering how that heartfelt ending to Toy Story 4 wrapping everything up everything perfectly will be continued. We can only wait and see what Disney decides... We have no idea of potential plot details but there will certainly be mountains of pressure Disney to impress.
We've created a countdown below with a very rough date estimate which we'll keep up to date going forward.
